My EAF was working just fine when I was at home a few weeks ago, but now I have traveled to my dark sky site and when I opened the app today, it performed a firmware update. All of the other functions appear to work normally afterwards except that the EAF keeps giving an "unplugged, please plug in and reconnect manually" message even though the cables remain connected. I have power cycled the AAP, my iPad, my mount, changed out the USB A to USB B cable, changed the ports on the AAP that the cable plugs into. No combination of cursing, crying or pleading has resulted in any improvement. I know that there is a connection because it gives a little beep when I ask it to move before it gives the "unplugged" message.
Having read other posts, I tried disconnecting the EAF from the focuser itself and operating it in mid-air but no change and the focuser works fine without the EAF.
I have read posts about iOS products not playing nicely with the AAP and I read warnings (too late) about backing up your old version before the update so that you could restore to factory settings and continue with the old version. That's not an option for me now.
So my questions are these:
1) Are these problems something that is commonplace and has a simple solution (he says with no conviction in his voice)?
2) If this is a problem brought on by the conflict between iOS and AAP, can I just throw away my iPad and learn how to use AAP on an Android tablet?
3) Is there some other way out that I haven't considered?
Thanks to anyone who can offer me advice.
