2600MC-Air with external guider?

I have a hypothetical here. If I have the 2600MC-Air, let's say one of my lesser used OTAs can't deliver a large enough image circle to illuminate the guider. In that case, can I use an external guider/guide scope with the 2600MC-Air controlling it via the ASIAir app? It's not something I can test, because I don't have any external guiders right now.

And while I'm at it...side issue...what happens if post-warranty the internal ASIAir fails? Can the cameras still be accessed & controlled by an external ASIAir?

Anyone have any knowledge of these questions? Especially guiding with an external guider.

Yes, you can use an external guider and guide scope for guiding and control it via the ASIAir app. ASIAir supports a variety of cameras and guiding equipment, including the ASI220mini guide camera. In your case, using the ASI220mini with an external guide scope can certainly be controlled and guided through the ASIAir.

Thanks! I knew the ASIAir normally would support this, but I wasn't sure if having the built-in guide chip and seeing a secondary guider to choose from would present a problem at all.

Can this camera and guider be controlled by another device, even if the built-in ASIAir is functional? What if the built-in ASIAir breaks down? I wouldn't be surprised if partially broken would be a problem, but what if your friend borrows your camera and wants to use it with his other-brand setup? This is potentially a real scenario I am likely to run into.
