I have run into a problem that has flummoxed me. AA+ did a GoTo M51 on 3 different occasions and reported it had found it each time. The sky was clear, although there might have been lower transparency. But I noticed that the images on my S23 Ultra phone showed no hint of nebulosity. So I did another GoTo to be safe. Nothing changed. I ran 27x 2 minute of subs through Weighted Batch PreProcessing (clouds had rolled in). There was no nebulosity.
I have been an astro imager for 18 years and this is a first. I would really appreciate suggestions as to how to correct this problem. FWIW, it was fine the previous night when capturing M97 & M108.
My best guess is that my scope was pointing to the open sky.
And yes, the lens cap was off! The subs captured many stars and AA+ verified M51 was centered.
