The Seestar S50 in equatorial mode has a very questionable polar alignment calibration mode?
In my region, the polar axis is about 15 degrees west of the magnetic north pole. According to the maps I found on the !
I installed a navigation compass on the aluminum mount I mounted on the S50's tripod and set it to 15 degrees west of magnetic north. This allows me to pre-align the S50 before calibration. I expected an adjustment of less than 1 degree following the auto-calibration. However, this is not the case! The S50 tells me to turn the azimuth significantly: +/-12 degrees on each side of magnetic north. This varies from night to night.
This doesn't prevent the S50 from properly aligning objects. However, this is not normal at all!
