how can I reach settings? I'm trying to connect a new seestar s50 to a samsung galaxy chromebook but cannot locate anything that may help. The seestar shows power lights & is sometimes connected but it won't open to allow pics to be taken. I've tried with & without the usb lead plugged into the c/bk but no connection is shown. I knew c/bks sometimes had connection problems but how can I access whatever I may need? Thanks for any guidance that could help me

Please turn off VPN and internet security software on your phone and grant the app full network access. If that doesn't work please send me a screenshot of the problem so I can analyze the cause.

I apologise but how do i turn off vpn? I am using a chromebook not a phone to grant the app full network access? Yesterday when trying to get initial set up the seestar lights were lit but the unit would not rise, then my chromebook said ss out of range despitr it being beside my c/bk so I tried with it beside the home hub but still out of range. I'll try to get a screenshot to send when I havd a chance. Thank you

Mark323 The possible reason is that Seestar currently does not support connection and control on the Windows side.

So would that be related to my using a chromebook [i.e. not windows]? Would a windows operating computer work better?

Mark323 If Chromebook is running on Windows, then the Seestar will not work as its not compatible with windows devices. You need to use an Android device. There are ways to work with Windows, which is outside the scope of this reply. There are discussions about this on the forum. Hopefully ZWO will produce a Windows version of the software. Right now use an Android phone or Tablet.

I'm awaiting a home meds delivery but I'll attempt connection when I can turn off VPN & can sort out time to go through it and unpack the SS again. One related slight enquiry: Should the SS be very close to my home hub or should the connection be made from/with the c/bk beside it with or without the usb lead plugged in? Thanks, Mark

3AC9bx99 Chromebook doesn't run on windows. It runs ChromeOS, which is not android, but can runs most android apps.

A little googling on the subject leads to various threads with other people trying to use Seestar with Chromebook and all but one person has failed. That one person didn't suggest any reason it worked for them. Everyone else is just stuck connecting.

I have an old Chromebook and the app works. In the settings for the Chromebook i can turn the screen 90' to get portrait mode. Not using it as the Chromebook is some old that its not possible to update the os. And its quite slow after the lates official upgrade. But i don't see why a modern Chromebook should not work with the Seestar. Bur probably an idea to ask someone if its working before buying an expensive Chromebook :-)

I'm planning to attend an astro society night to see if any other users can point me in the right direction. It's obviously something I've ticked - or not - on initial set up. The seestar shows in network & the app but on pressing the "connect" bar it does not happen. I'll get there (hopefully). Even if I could get it to open-up it would be a start, it speaks to me but at stage it goes no further.

I tried & retried many things but the problem seems to be with the c/bk connection, I attended an astro society meeting last night where several experienced Seestar users attmpted to make the connection but also failed then one of them produced his tablet and did exactly the same things which successfully connected at once so I could go through all the steps I'd done to make it function fully.
I've ordered a new android tablet so hopefully that will allow the same connection. All I can say is that despite claims that c/bk works with the s50 it does not.I'd even checked with my c/bk model where claims also said it did but it does not despite it showing in networks.
