Recomended guiding setup with an ASI120MM (USB2)

I've tried numerous configurations but at one time or other all have proved un-reliable :( .

So what is the recommended setup for guiding? I have Maxim DL 5.24 & PHD2 should I use ASCOM, native drivers (PHD2) or video? I prefer an ASCOM pulse guiding connection to the mount instead of ST4.

I think WDM is the most stable way

but usually there is no problem if you connect camera directly from pC
