I've used the ASIStudio for image capture over a number of years as it has improved and expanded. However it seems to be still missing a relatively simple software option (or is it there I haven't found it?)
It would be really helpful if ASIstudio / ASIimage had the option of a user settable marker (+ for instance) overlay-ed on the image. A number of older image capture software programs has that option and I've found it invaluable for a number of reasons. A few listed below.
1) When using a finder CCDorCMOS you need to align the center of field of view with that of the main camera. Especially when there is a large difference between finder and main camera focal length. At least for me the finder center of field stays roughly aligned to each other. If the finder capture program has a user set marker overlay-ed on the image you can quickly mark the main cameras center on the finder images and not have to speed time "precisely" aligning the center each time you set up.
2) A marker or perhaps two markers comes in really handy at repositioning the image for more image captures when doing a meridian flip
3) Having the intensity of the marked point on the image can be useful in identification of what an area of interest's intensity is relative to the whole image histogram. This is really important if you are trying to do anything quantitative like photometry or spectroscopy where you do not want a specific point of the image to be saturated or it needs to be an some optimal point for capture.
