Hello forum participants
This is my first question as a new ASIAIR ecosystem user.
So, by default, it looks like 2x2 binning is applied on ASI220MM guide camera with the ASIAIR interface.
I was wondering if there is any information on whether this means that the guiding numbers displayed on the live guide graph during guiding is actually half of what it is in actual reality. I'm investigating why I have small star trails when my guiding is around 0.6 "- 0.7" RMS using an OAG at 1200mm focal length. I'm thinking it's more like 1.2" - 1.4" RMS.
I have read in other forum comments that guide numbers shown would indeed be halved if binning is implemented to a guide camera.
At my focal length, I am chasing 0.4"RMS minimum, so I need to find out what's going on in my case.
Perhaps the ASIAIR GUI automatically compensates for the 2x2 guide camera binning and displays the real guide numbers after all. Can anyone with ASIAIR inner workings know-how confirm this either way?
Sure, I can turn off 2x2 binning , but stars in the the guiding display are quite dim and I lose stars much more.
Any feedback is much appreciated.
