Dear ZWO Team,
I would like to present a request that I believe is of great importance for remote equipment users. I have been using ASI Air for years, and all my equipment is from ZWO. However, after contracting a hosting service and sending my equipment to a remote site, I found the need for a flat panel to perform calibration shots. It was then that I started using NINA at the end of last year, but unfortunately, I have found that the platform is unstable and has prevented me from capturing images consistently. The recurring issues with driver incompatibility and constant updates remind me of the frustration I experienced in the past with other programs like MaxIm DL and PH2Guiding.
One of the most obvious problems is with the AM5N mount, which has shortcomings due to drivers in NINA, preventing it from functioning correctly. Additionally, NINA struggles to manage two ZWO focusers, confusing the configuration when both are used together, something that doesn’t happen in ASI Air. In other words, ZWO products work properly in ASI Air but not in NINA, at least in my case, where I use two cameras and two EAFs. While ASI Air has been a simple and effective tool, it still lacks support for key components like flat panels, which are essential for full remote control.
The field rotator (AAC) in ASI Air has been a significant step forward, but the lack of support for flat panels remains a major inconvenience. Currently, there is no integrated solution in ASI Air for remote users who use flat panels from other brands. My proposal is for ZWO to allow the integration of third-party flat panels, as it already does with mounts, to address this critical need, at least until ZWO releases its own flat panel.
I am confident that ZWO has the ability to take the next step and provide a complete solution that will allow remote users to operate their telescopes more efficiently, without the issues of incompatibility and driver updates we currently experience with NINA. This would undoubtedly be a significant step for ZWO and would solidify its position as a leading and advanced provider in the industry.
Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Leonardo Ruiz
