Autofocus Fails with ASIAir Plus and EAF

I'm using an ASIAir Plus and an EAF (5v version) with an Askar FRA500 refractor. Running version 2.4.1 software. AF completes the initial curve with no problem, as shown in the screenshot below. It fails during fine focus, with the focus points increasingly out of focus in a straight line up from the initial curve. Step size is 30 and I've tried smaller and larger step sizes. Tried bin1 and bin2. Tried different exposures, but 3-5s gives me the best initial curve. Tried reversing the EAF direction, too. There is nothing mechanically, wrong with the EAF or the scope's focuser, as I've used it for several years to autofocus with a laptop and APT. Also, no problem with ASIAir Autofocus using another EAF I have on an Askar FRA400. Any help appreciated!

Working fine on my RedCat 91 too. Since it works on another scope with another EAF, I have to wonder if the EAF is failing or something as simple as a USB cable is at fault.
