I own two ASIAIR units—an older version (without the external antenna) and a newer ASIAIR Mini with the antenna. I recently connected both to my iOptron HAE43 mount and noticed the following issue:
• The older ASIAIR unit (pre-antenna model) fails to identify the HAE43 mount. It does not offer “Serial 0” or “Serial 1” options in the mount settings, even after a full software update.
• The ASIAIR Mini (with antenna), however, successfully detects the mount and provides both “Serial 0” and “Serial 1” connection options.
This suggests that either hardware limitations or software compatibility differences exist between the two ASIAIR versions.
My questions:
1. Is there a known limitation with the older ASIAIR hardware regarding serial communication options or HAE43 compatibility?
2. Can this issue be resolved through further updates, or is the older box effectively obsolete for newer mounts?
3. Would switching to a different control box (e.g., ASIAIR Plus or newer) solve all compatibility issues reliably?
Any insight or official clarification from ZWO would be greatly appreciated.
