Dear ZWO Team,
I am a Seestar S50 user and truly appreciate the convenience, imaging quality, and smart features this telescope offers. I would like to suggest a few improvements for future firmware updates that could significantly enhance the user experience and scientific potential:
- Expanded Celestial Object Database
Please consider adding more catalogs and object types, such as:
Variable stars (from GCVS or AAVSO).
Dark nebulae and dust lanes.
Objects from the Barnard, Sharpless, and Caldwell catalogs.
Notable comets and large asteroids (e.g., Ceres, Vesta, Pallas).
- Smarter Search System
Allow searches by RA/Dec coordinates.
Recognize alternative/common names (e.g., “Veil Nebula” as well as “NGC 6992”).
Optional integration with external databases such as SIMBAD for advanced users.
- Enhanced Sky Atlas Functionality
Enable filtering by object type (galaxy, nebula, cluster, etc.).
Add filtering by apparent magnitude.
These improvements would transform the Seestar S50 from a smart telescope into an even more powerful educational and scientific tool. Thank you for your continued innovation and for listening to the community.
Best regards,
Jaime Moreno
