Hi Seestar Team,
First off, I want to say how much I appreciate the Seestar S50—it’s an incredible piece of gear that’s made astrophotography more accessible and enjoyable than ever. I use it regularly and love how streamlined and intuitive the experience is.
That said, I’d love to suggest a few features that I believe could take the platform to the next level:
🌟 Variable Stars in the SkyAtlas
Including variable stars in the built-in skyAtlas would be a fantastic addition. It would allow users to track brightness changes over time and engage with more dynamic aspects of stellar observation. Even just basic catalog integration (e.g., AAVSO or GCVS) would be a huge step forward.
🤖 AI-Based Planning in the “Plan” Function
It would be amazing if the Plan feature could incorporate AI-driven suggestions based on:
- Location, weather, and moon phase
- Best imaging targets for the night
- Recommended exposure settings and stacking strategies
This would make the Seestar feel like a true astro assistant, especially for users who want great results without deep manual planning.
📈 Light Curve Logging & Visualization
Adding the ability to log brightness data over time and generate light curves would open up exciting possibilities for observational astronomy. It could support variable star tracking, exoplanet transit detection, and even supernova monitoring. This would be a game-changer for citizen science and educational outreach.
Thanks again for all the innovation you’ve already packed into this device. I hope these ideas resonate, and I’d be thrilled to see them considered for future updates.
Clear skies,
Blaine Dickey
