I've spent thousands of dollars on ZWO hardware, only to discover that one of Sony's most popular APS-C cameras — the Sony A6700 — still isn't supported by ASIAIR.
Honestly, this is incredibly frustrating.
The A6700 has been on the market for a long time. It uses the same imaging pipeline as other recent Sony cameras, yet ASIAIR users are still left waiting with no support, no roadmap, and barely any communication.
Instead, customers who invested heavily in the ZWO ecosystem are forced to:
- buy another camera just to use ASIAIR,
- switch to NINA on a mini PC,
- or abandon the ASIAIR ecosystem entirely.
How can it be that after spending so much money on your hardware, a perfectly capable and widely used camera is still unsupported?
Is adding a camera driver really that difficult? If there are technical reasons, at least be transparent and communicate them. The silence is what frustrates users the most.
Please add support for the Sony A6700. Many of us chose this camera specifically for astrophotography, and it's disappointing that the software is what prevents us from using it.
I really like the ASIAIR concept, but this lack of support is making it hard to recommend the platform to others.
