Feature request: Square framing

When using framing mode, it would be nice to be able to change the aspect ratio to use a square, or even have separate sliders for width and height. There's a lot of targets that don't really benefit from the 16:9 aspect ratio and with a square we would be able to capture bigger targets in the same amount of time or just give more exposure to the center of the frame.
Cygnus loop with the S30 is a good example, can just be done in a single x2 mosaic but having the same surface as a square would give more margin around it.

Brille I feel cropping an image beats cropping the sensor's original data.

Flower What they're asking for involves zero cropping. It's just changing the mosaic exposure pattern to cover a square (or user defined) aspect area more efficiently. Today if I have a roundish target that is 2x the width of the sensor, I have to make a 2x frame, and will get 2x height as well, and then throw away half of it in post. One way to understand this is to enable the panoramic mode on your phone and then hold the phone vertically while panning horizontally. Can make a square frame that way, with zero cropping.

Daemon42 The Dwarf 3 already has this feature, it can size the mosaic frame with independent X and Y scale factors between 1x and 1.8x.

Probably wrong here, but would'nt it require a square, full frame sensor ?

Flower No. Think of it like this. Make a square piece of paper. Now cut it in half. What do you have? Two rectangles. You can make a square, (or really any other larger rectangle of any aspect) out of rectangles.
