zephirus For what it's worth, I didn't have focus problems on my RedCat 91 last night. Other issues--yes--but focusing worked for me. I have the 5v EAF, not one of the newest models just released this year.

Upgraded to 2.4.2 last night. Guiding stopped repeatedly. No “lost star” warning. Just went from guiding to looping. I submitted bug report and uploaded logs.

viperduude Tried a second night. Same problem. I thought it might be a problem with dithering. Turned dithering off, same problem--ASIAIR just stopped guiding and went into looping mode. I submitted another bug report with uploaded logs.

Great, so lets see:

Wifi is broken
Platesolving is broken
Polar alignment is broken
None were addressed in 2.4.2. And now guiding is broken, too.

These are all fundamental - if they don't work reliably ASIAir is useless. As I said before - time to fire your software developer before they kill your company.

I'll give it a try again on 8 September weather permitting to generate some logs.

Regarding old versions, I have the following versions on MacOS for Silicon Macs from the following dates - this week I will try each one-by-one to find out which versions they are. If you want one I can post a link via iCloud.

14 July '24 - version 2.1.5, good and includes the original EAF, but no CAA.

Unfortunately I do not know if it is possible to transfer these to iOS - and I am trying.

Just faced another bug - this time with polar alignment - when the alignment is very close to "good" (the happy face), the polar alignment process hangs on the "Loading" stage, but works fine (plate solves and the alignment error is calulated) when the alignment is "okay" (the emotionless face). Using Sony a7 III as my main camera, if that helps

Here lies the challenge with software development - Wi fi was fine, Plate solving was fine, and Polar alignment was fine on my configuration. However EAF was not fine - but some said theirs worked properly.

Since last update I'm seeing something odd I can't explain. PA works fine, Guiding is good. Focuser works fine... this is using Askar 103 scope on a ZWO AM3 mount, ZWO focuser, ZWO CAA, and ZWO Camera (ASI2600MC Air). Last few nights imaging run was fine. Did my meridian flip automatically and scope can't guide... get sausage stars with 2 second guide exposure.
There are no cables dragging, camera is clear of the mount. I have rotator in 180 mode and I don't think it is supposed to flip at all, and guiding parameters should work (reversed) after the flip, but they don't seem to. Flips worked fine on prior software. Thoughts?

Last week I was trying to use V2.4.1 at my dark sky site. PA was apparently working but the mount was not pointing at the correct target after GOTO. (Someone suggested it was due to a difference between UTC time on the mount and UTC time on the ASIAIR.)

Last night at home I did a session with V.2.4.2 and everything I use seems to be working OK now.

It would be helpful to have confirmation that these issues were worked for V2.4.2.

I use two asiair to run two independent rigs. When switching between them the bright screen with the white telescope shatters the darkness and blinds me unless I cover the screen or turn the tablet away. I would appreciate it if that unnecessarily bright screen could be removed or switched off.

Worked fine for me last night on two rigs. Worked fine with the CAA on the first rig. PA worked fine on the other (the first is in a dome and needs no PA). Plate solving for the PA and go-to was fine. Focus was fine too. Very happy after the failures of functionality not so long ago.

challiwe Just wondering - what device are you using to run the ASIAIR App? Android or Apple? What version of Android / Apple OS are you running? Also - what equipment are you using?

If everyone here could post that info with their post about issues or no issues that would be great.

Clearly, the experience is NOT the same for everyone and people who post in here are more than likely going to be those that have issues than no issues. That is why the info requested is important.

Corsair iPad , up to date. Brand new ASI2600MC Pro Duo Air for one and older ASIAIR for the other with an ASI2600MC Duo. First system OTA was 300mm focal length and second 600mm.

Good point to enumerate what is being used.

Indeed, it is important to know:

what the mount was,
the field of view of the main camera (plate-solving);
the focal length of the guide scope.

I'm quite certain those using little refractors on the ZWO harmonic mounts with the tiny guide scopes will have vastly different experiences to those using non-ZWO mounts carrying far bigger rigs like mine. In my case:
Mount = Skywatcher CQ350;
Main scope = 254mm aperture 3000mm focal length
Main camera = ASI2600MC DUO, field of view 0.5 degree.
Guide scope = 254mm aperture 3000mm focal length

Tonight wifi dropped, plate solve on goto ran forever, and when in a subscreen I had to go all the way out to the start screen to get back to the run screen. My equipment: AM5, 120mm guide scope/ZWOcamera, 8" 1600mm R-C carbon, ASIAIR plus, ZWO EAF, Nikon 5300 filters removed. When wifi dropped I had restart everything. Tonight I would say the ASIAIR is a nice concept - but that is it. My Friday night entry I must have still been 2.4.1

zephirus Hello. What connection method are you using? Direct connection or router bridge? If it is a direct connection, we recommend switching to 5G.

viperduude I used a different AA+ with same cables and guiding never dropped. It seems my "guiding to looping" issue is with that AA+ unit.

My first night with 2.4.2, guide stars dropped off one by one as I reported above. After going back to 2.4.1 that immediately resolved. Tonight I have had zero guide stars drop off the guide screen on 2.4.1. All 12 remain active or selected. Tonight I'm imaging the same target in nearly identical or slightly worse conditions Same time of night. All of the guide stars just stay selected.

Regarding the other issues people reported with 2.4.2:

I've had no PA issues with any version going back to 2.3.2. In fact, the other night I did an all sky PA on 2.4.2...then managed to kick my power cable...re-ran the all sky PA routine just to see and the final error from my alignment (25") was what it reported the second time! That was reassuring.

I have had no EAF issues.

Plate solve is a mixed bag. It was super fast on 2.4.2 for the hour or two I used it. With all of versions, sometimes it's quick, sometimes it takes forever. No rhyme or reason. Mostly it works for me using the new model/version.

No issues with WiFi. I always run in station mode. If I'm in the mountains imaging, I use the hotspot on my phone configured like my home WiFi and still use station mode.

I'm always on Android tablets running Android 15.
AM3 with FW 1.7.3, bluetooth guiding corrections

I run everything with a single power cable off my Ecoflow power supply to the AA+.

Hello,
I have just tested 1 day (making calibration files) and 1 night the 2.4.2 on my 585Air, My impression is positive, I have found a minor issue which is:

even if autorun is completed, you can modify / edit any in the sequence until you reset the auto run
I have raised the issue with the bug tracker within the asiair app.
I encurage you all to raise the issues you found on the asiair app.
