OK, so we’ve all seen numerous posts about the crazy behavior of the CAA rotating in weird directions when driven by the ASIAIR Plus. But last night I used my CAA on an ASCOM system (Sequence Generator Pro), making sure I had downloaded the latest ZWO ASCOM drivers. My image needed to be rotated by just 6 degrees for perfect framing but the CAA decided to rotate 354 degrees in the opposite direction! WHY WOULD IT DO THAT!? The ASCOM interface panel just has target angles and a “reverse” check, but no other angular limitation settings that I can see. Of course, once again my CAA rotated into the pier and once again damaged my USB socket on my filter ring, so once again I’ll be repairing my gear thanks to the terrible control software (or design) of the CAA. I’ve said this before, but I’ll repeat it here: THERE IS NO NEED TO ROTATE ANY IMAGE BEYOND +/- 90 DEGREES for perfect framing. This applies to any telescope, any camera, anywhere. So please tell me what the point is of allowing ASCOM to rotate a camera 360 degrees?
