SeeStar S-30 in station mode setup 2.4ghz wifi
Laptop using 5ghz wifi or 2.4ghz wifi or 2.4ghz wifi repeater or 5ghz wifi repeater ( I changed wifi to each and checked)
Not sure where I copied this a few months ago but just checked a few minutes ago.....

"Station Mode is not only for control over wifi, but can also be used to transfer files, even while stargazing is active. For PC users:
right-click on This PC, and select 'Map Network Drive'.
Enter '\Seestar'
it will ask for a username and password. It is your device SN as the username s30_myserialnumber and your password is 12345678 S50_yourserialnumber in your case (seems to be the station mode wifi name/password)

KatNRick My PC does see the S50:

But when I try to select a folder it asks me to login, and with username S50_myserialnumber and password 12345678 and got this:

The S50 and the PC are on the same network, I know its IP and it responds to pings. This is not a connectivity problem, it is an authentication problem, I just don't know what user name and password to use. ZWO, any insight on this? Accessing the S50 files over WiFi seems like a basic and pretty important feature. What are the credentials I need to use to login?

I have seen Station Mode apparently get 'confused' during signin attempts. I also had a Windows update a bit after signing in yesterday. S30_sn and password are the credentials assuming the default SeeStar password was not changed or the Station Mode name.

For me, repeated attempts using the same process is sometimes required. YEP, I got the same message repeatedly several times. Everything connected as expected after the 5th or 6th attempt. Also, the path set by the process I found is a bit different from the one you show.

Yes, it is nice to be able to access the files using a computer while operating in Live mode or performing other activities using the 'controlling device', whether phone or tablet.

My credentials work, sometimes requires multiple attempts. Sorta like Station mode login after wifi band change.

starnet59 seems to need a bit of help with credentialing.

KatNRick You can try opening the PowerShell admin terminal and entering the command: Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false. After executing it, try again to see if it works normally.

starnet59 Glad you sorted out your initial wifi range issues.. re.. repeater.

FWIW, I just just tested the \\seestar path again from a computer that is on same wifi network that has never talked to the S50 before, and it prompted for creds, and I put in username: doesnt password: matter
and it connected fine.. Windows has a requirement that there be a user/pw.. S50 doesn't care what they are.
I did notice however that where I used to use Start - Run - \\seestar before to connect to network drives like this, it didn't like that. But just Start to bring up the search and \\seestar there worked fine.

Off topic, but how do you like using that geared head? Better/ easier than a wedge?

It is way better, it takes me just a couple of minutes to do the entire EQ mode polar alignment and it works every single time in one shot, no retries.
