Latest update has killed the ASI2600MC Air.

Whenever I try to go to Plan mode and see the plans the app either freezes and/or crashes. Happening on 2 different 2600MC Airs and other are seeing the same issues, See the FaceBook group. Basically both and the scopes attached to them are bricks at this point. How about giving us the choice to NOT install a firmware upgrade if we do not know want it or let the update bake for awhile.

I agree about NOT having to install upgrades. I purchased two 2600Air (MM and MC) at beginning of September, they worked beautifully for a few days then the forced installation of update 2.4.3 happened. Since then both cameras will not plate solve or keep a guide star.

You're not forced to update/upgrade firmware.
That's controlled by your device running the app. The app on your device and the firmware on the ASIAIR are a matched set. So when the app updates on your device it checks the firmware on the ASIAIR and updates it if required.

For Apple - to disable auto updates - you can only do this for all apps via the App Store app. However, if you install the ASIAIR App via TestFlight, I think you can disable app updates for just the ASIAIR App in TestFlight.

For Android - to disable auto updates - you go to the Play Store app, then go to the ASIAIR App product page, tap on the triple dot menu in the top right of the screen, then untick the auto update box.

Downgrading:
To downgrade an Apple device you need to use TestFlight. Corsair, thanks, I tried this routine on Android phone, deleted everything as instructions, followed and checked the links on "downgrade the Android device" followed link on Cloudy Nights, end result the android phone stated "no files found".

malc Did you download the APK file (which is the link to the OneDrive folder from the CloudyNights post) to your phone?

What Android phone do you have?

If you have saved it your phone (and confirmed the APK file is on your phone by using the phone's file explorer) - then you may need to Google search how to install an APK file for your particular phone model.

I tried again. An APK file did download to Android phone (Samsung S21 5G Android v15), I went through the procedures again with some success this time. I now have ASIair 2.3 firmware 41.63 on the Android.

I also tried on the iPad (OS 18.6.2, 9th gen). The outcome was slightly different. I now have ASIair 2.4.9 firmware 41.63 on the iPad.

I guess one of them must be wrong. I can’t test either until a clear night so will keep both on for now.

malc For Apple, ASIAIR 2.4.9 is actually 2.3.3 (I think - just re-numbered when they re-released it after the buggy 2.4/2.4.1 release)
