I have always been interesting in "whats up there". But have never had any telescope until i got a good price for a Celestron Advanced VX and tripod. Then i bought a Sky Watcher Skymax 127T.
But even with good tracking etc this was to much work compared to how often i actually have time and also weather allowing to see anything.
So at some point i bought the S50 when it was new on the marked... And yes if i had bough a "camera" for my Skymax etc i probably could get some nice pictures.
But after i got the S50 i sold the Celestron AVX.
The S50 is so practical and good for a amateurs like me and i get good images.
I have learned howto use Siril to get even better stacking.
But my point with this posting are that even with bad weather like i had a weekend its possible to just set up the S50 and do some imaging.
The images in this post a under 10min and if i used my former Celestron ATX i most likely had not got any images that weekend. The clouds drifted by etc.
The images speaks for it selves....
So even if i at some point is going back to a bigger/better setup the combination with a smart telescope is a good solution.

I have many other good and better images for jupiter/M42 etc but these are the one i took the weekend with just a 10min clear sky.
