I'm a happy 6-month owner of the S30 here. I had never pointed my S30 at Jupiter until this early morning. An optical flare showed up on the image. It was consistent and moved along with Jupiter.
Does anyone have the same issue, or is it just me?
I have done a few Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto imaging (the S50 is not really made for planetary astrophotography) but I have never seen a flare like that.
This reflection is caused by the reflection from the camera's protective glass. Jupiter is an extremely bright planet and does not require a long exposure. You can use the Solar System mode to shoot and check if the reflection still appears.
