Cannot get color image from Tiff or PNG files

I have a beautiful, color real time display on my computer while using ASIStudio. When I save the image in either PNG or Tiff format (using Raw 8 or Raw 16) what i get is a gray scale image. I have reviewed several of the discussions above which refer to 'fit' format as well as de-beyering. However, I don't see anyway to convert the above mentioned files to 'fit' format nor how I can de-beryer. What am I missing? My ultimate goal is to create an RGB file for my own processing (using Matlab).
Can you help me?

Have you checked this "RAW Data" option? If you select "RAW8":
1、When the color mode is enabled and this button is checked, the image saved will be in black and white;
2、When the color mode is not enabled, the saved image will be in color.
3、If you select "RAW16", the saved image will be in black and white by default and needs to be converted to color.

I experimented and found that if I did not check the RAW Data box I did get color images in the saved file. Apparently that was the problem.
