I have been thinking about getting or not achieving, fours with the guide camera on the 585. I’ve gone into the guiding page and after getting focus with the main camera I then tried to get something with the guide camera but all I got was nothing, just a blank screen. My scope is an Asker 80 PHQ and I set the gain to zero for the guide camera, as I’m doing it in the daytime. Should I take out the filter? I set the guiding camera to loop and waited a few seconds between each fractional movement of the focussing knob ( silver) I need to be able to pick up stars in order to guide properly, but as yet I’m stumped and cannot get anything but a blank screen. Anyone help please.

If you use a guide camera, it is best to focus on distant objects such as houses that are more than one kilometer away. Rotate the button on the camera to adjust the focus. When taking photos, you can set the exposure to 0.001(You can also make adjustments yourself.) seconds during the daytime. For nighttime shooting, you can slowly rotate the button while aiming at the sky until you find the appropriate star points.What's the filter are you useing

Thanks for that. The filter is an Optalong pro. I’m going to set up my rig again as soon as I can and will adjust the exposure time down to the setting you suggested as I will still be trying to focus during daytime, it’s been cloudy for days.
