I feel like there's something I don't understand about the alt/az adjusters on the AMN5. The mount works great when tracking/guiding, no issues there at all -- but I'm afraid something is up when manually adjusting for polar alignment, and it may well be user error. (That would be me. 🙂 )
The azimuth counter-rotating mechanism seems to do nothing; not just small motions, as I know the range is limited, but actually nothing at all. So I adjust az the best I can by simply rotating the mount on the tripod (well, on the pier extension).

Meanwhile, the altitude adjuster seems jerky and unpredictable, especially when lowering the position. Raising the position works better, mostly smooth, but lowering is a different story. I'm at 35ºN, so I don't have to change the gear.

Is it supposed to be like this? Any advice, pointers, best practices appreciated. Thanks!
