CAA and Voyager Automation

Voyager is using the ASCOM driver but everything is reversed. If the SKY PA is 100 and I ask Voyager to rotate to 110, it moves the CAA 10 degrees the wrong way. Checks the sky, realizes it is now 20 degrees off and rotates the wrong way another 20 degrees so now it's 40 degrees off ... and you can see where this is going. If I set Voyager to "reverse" the rotator, the ASCOM driver also goes in to reverse, effectively cancelling the reverse, so the rotator (when reading SKY PA is completely un-functional). According to Voyager, they are simply interfacing to the ASCOM driver, so they feel like there is nothing they can fix. Could you have a look or even try to test with Voyager. It's free for 90 days.

Hi there,you connect the CAA via ASCOM to set the zero position: first, once the CAA is connected to ASCOM, you can rotate it to the current position that you want to set as 0 degrees—this position will then be the CAA’s zero degree mark. We recommend marking this position, as it will help you clearly track how the CAA rotates later on. Additionally, if you use NINA or ASIStudio you can limit the CAA’s rotation range.Regarding the other issue you mentioned—where the CAA’s rotation direction does not match the target angle’s movement direction—this occurs due to mechanical limits: the CAA cannot rotate more than 360 degrees past a specific position. It is likely that when you entered the target angle, the CAA’s current angle was already close to this mechanical limit. As a result, the CAA can only rotate in the reverse direction to reach the target angle.You can turn off the inversion function.

Thanks for the reply.

I have set the rotator to a zero position several times and that works OK as long as I manually set the rotation I want.

With the rotator zero'd, manually adjusted to 100 degrees, and using plate solving for rotation, I simply tried to get it to move from 100 to 110 but it moves to 90 every time whether or not "reverse" is set on or off.

Voyager has it's own "Reverse" feature that over rides the rotators "reverse" setting but when using your ASCOM driver, it is reading from Voyager and matching up, so when I reverse in voyager, the ASCOM driver reverses as well, cancelling each other out.
