I know there are firmware update tools for Windows and Mac available at https://www.zwoastro.com/software/
I find it hard to keep an overview, which devices are covered by this tool. Especially, i heard that CAA got some update but it’s not clear to me where to get it, nor what is the current version.
Wouldn’t it make sense that once you attach a camera/accessory (filter wheel, EAF, CAA, etc) to the ASIAir, that you could update the device from inside the ASIAir app? I mean technically, ASIAir could just ask the official server on startup about any available firmware for the attached devices, use all measures of security like https downloading, doing checksum tests against the downloaded firmware file, etc. Afterwards providing a nice interface with information about what devices will be updated (with some in-depth information what has been fixed/changed).
Additionally, the individual device tab in the app could show you, if the firmware version is up-to-date.
What do you think?
