I have 2 ASIAIR-PLUS-256GB 2024 controllers. One works fine, the other will not track near or after the meridian of the target. Large guiding variances of 1500 to 2500 and it will not correct itself without a complete shut down/restart/verify PA/New Guide Calibration/restart plan. It will guide accurately 2.0 total variance up until 15 to 20 degrees of the meridian, then again after 15 to 20 degrees past meridian. That is a good sized chunk of sky I can't image.
Equipment: AM3 mount, ASI Tripod w/ pier extension, ASIAIR-PLUS-256GB, ASI120MM Mini guide camera, ASI585MC primary camera, ASI EAF w/ thermo, 60MM guide scope and WO Redcat71 Telescope.
Troubleshooting: I have tried the set up on a different mount (no change/still won't track close to meridian). I have rolled back the firmware on the ASIAIR-PLUS-256GB and reinstalled the latest (no change/still won't track close to meridian). I have turned off saved guiding calibration so it will calibrate each session and after meridian flip. I ensure the mount is level and my PA hasn't changed multiple times during each session.
Typical performance: Set up equipment, ensure its level, ensure the tripod/pier extension are tight, PA (typically within 5 sec of dead center), RA and DEC are locked down and tight, Check PA again after locking everything down, Sync ASIAIR to Mount for location, verify all wires are connected/secure and free to move with the mount, create plan (includes autofocus before targets and as temp changes, as well as calibrate guiding in same area of the sky as the target), start plan. Once it gets close to meridian, the guiding struggles and then loses track until the variance is over 2000.0. I center the mount, shut down the ASIAIR, restart and also restart the ASIAIR app on my tablet, verify PA hasn't changed, manually initiate guiding calibration and it will track up until the meridian flip. After meridian flip, it fails to track again. I have to go through my steps listed above, usually 2 or 3 times before it will begin guiding again.
It didn't do this until a firmware update about 8 to 9 months ago. I have taken good care of my equipment and it has not suffered any bumps/drops or exposure to moisture or direct sunlight.
Is there anything I can do to fix this or should I initiate a warranty claim for a replacement?
