It either chooses a "poor" star like when that's on the outer part of the scope (scopes often have distorted stars on the very outside), or a "hot spot" on the camera. It would help if we can tell it where to look for stars or give it a smaller region, or choose the center. Or it should have better logic to choose a "rounder" star. Same goes for choosing auto-guiding stars.
