Around 4 a.m., I pointed the telescope in EQ mode at the Rosette Nebula. I made sure the imaging started and then went about my business. After about 30 minutes, when I tried to check the status via the app, I saw an error saying it was impossible to connect. Some time later, I decided to go check on it and noticed that the telescope was trying to fold itself up (I don’t know if it broke anything, because I have a 3D-printed dew shield tube installed, and it couldn’t fully close). This is the first issue, because in the settings I specifically disabled auto-shutdown due to my dew shield, yet it still tried to do it.
Next. The Anti-Dew was also enabled, and the device seemed to have about 2/4 battery left and was connected to a power bank (which I’ve used with it many nights before). But now when I turn it on, it shows only 14–15% battery. It consumes 5V 0.4A, indicates that it’s charging normally, but after about 30 minutes of charging, the battery percentage stays at 14%. After powering on, the Anti-Dew toggle was set to “off”.
And the main third problem that results from all this is: when I tell the telescope to GoTo, it rotates halfway, stops, the app crashes, and the telescope folds itself up and powers off. Meanwhile, it still continues drawing 5V 0.4A from the charger.
I’m concerned that:
1. It can fold itself up on its own when it “loses connection”.
2. It is not actually charging, even though it is clearly drawing some power.
3. It shuts down when trying to image anything, essentially making it unusable.
