I just tested the issue you mentioned. Since I wasn't in the office, I tested it remotely using the company computer. I used a command to restart the device, without using the physical buttons. After the Seestar restarted, I connected directly to the Seestar telescope via NINA, without using the app (which is impossible since I wasn't on-site), and was able to directly point it at the target's right ascension and declination. Therefore, it would be best if you could provide some test videos for me to analyze the problem. Of course, I'll restart Seestar using the physical button to test it once I get to the office. If there are no problems, I'll record a video and post it here. By the way, what version of Alpaca are you using? Is it 1.1.2-1?

How can I determine the Alpaca level ? Is it stated within the application?

I'd suggest a comparison of the NINA debug traces (set to TRACE level) between the failing scenario and the successful scenario.

Thank your for checking into this. I will wait until you can conduct the test identically to how we users operate, i.e. using the power on button to start. I have conducted this test multiple times on different days. And, there have been confirming reports on Seestar Facebook groups of the same issue. So, let's see what you get.

I am using the latest Alpaca version v1.1.2-1 that was part of the latest overall v3.0.0.

Hi, Curtis.

I tested both the S50 and S30 in the office and didn't encounter the problem you mentioned. After booting up the Seestar, I could directly control Telescope using NINA for slew operations without needing the app.

Please check if my operation matches yours. If it does, but you still have the problem, please report a bug using the Seestar app after reproducing the issue so I can access the Alpaca logs. By the way, I'm using the latest app version 3.0.1, which upgrades Alpaca to 1.1.3-1. You can also try updating the app.

Hi Travis,
Thank you for the support. The problem is that ZWO updated the firmware which included the Alpaca update v1.1.3-1 but did not seem to tell anyone. I have yet to see an official ZWO announcement of this update other than your reply to my post above. Somehow, Chris Gray knew about the update and I read his post on a Facebook forum yesterday and downloaded the latest firmware and confirmed I now have the same Alpaca version as you. And, of course, we can now auto start the Seestar without having to connect the App. Would have been helpful to know that you had a different version of Alpaca in your first reply to me above. Can you point me to where ZWO announced the latest 3.0.1 update and what is included besides the issue noted here?

Software@ZWO Hi Travis, the work you are doing at ZWO is great! You gave a very hight value to seestar giving the alpaca support.
For this reason please reconsider the possibility to gave the same alpaca support also to the Asiair box, you will have an huge amount of happy customers.

Travis, yes, ZWO was a little late in posting the fact that a new version of Alpaca had already been released. And, for the record, "the problem" was not "mine", it impacted everyone trying to use NINA with their Seestar because of the "bug" or "oversight" in v1.1.2-1 of Alpaca.

Thanks for your demo.

1) The "Supports Alt Az Slew" not work yet, I had checked alpaca interface in the "swagger api" page, which reply a "not implement" error message.

2) Is there anyway that I can use the in-device-version of "auto focus", "auto exposure", "auto whitebalance" etc.? Because the nina version depends on round-trip image acquisition, which is extremlly slow. I want to use the factory version instead.

3) Is there any workable imageArray processing demo code in python opencv? I found your .NET version in the source code, but it's a little bit too low-level for me, I am pretty sure the numpy opencv has efficient deBayer process, but I haven't found the correct combination of parameters yet.
