What is the purpose of the confirmation prompt that is displayed when an Autorun is started? Since it just shows settings from the main Autorun screen it seems to be a redundant step. More that once I have started an Autorun only to realize it did not start and that screen is sitting there.

Do you mean this one? I did the same thing the first time I hit start and moved on to my main rig setup routine.

I actually like the newer prompt to check all of my start and end settings for the Plan/Autorun sequence.
The "Default" gain setting label on the other hand. That thing does my head in. Just list the actual gain setting that I'm currently using as the default so I can be sure it's set correctly.

Another night of testing V2.5 on the 28th. Loads of connection issues with station mode for the mount that almost had me give up.
After resetting everything multiple times and triple checking all my notes, I pulled all the cords apart and gave everything a good clean and reseat. Bingo!
It could be a total coincidence with the cords, but I'm guessing all the heat and humidity had messed with the 12v cig connectors that very rarely get unplugged.

After that lot, everything worked well. I snapped a shot of the guiding screen and was pretty happy with that.

These should be banned from any astrophotography gear. There is nothing worse except maybe twisting blank cables together. Maybe.

Do yourself a favour and remove those asap.

I've opened up plenty that are practically wires twisted together for internal connections. Why solder a wire on when you can simply crimp it in place with what looks like an old Coke can.
Seriously though, what's the big issue with 12v auxiliary power outlets? They're really not that different to other types of connectors for low voltage/current situations. They're also pretty hard to get away from given how commonly they are used for 12v power supply outlets.

What do you use instead?

I know this is going way off topic. However, a crappy power supply can often be the root cause of what seem like software bugs, so it's kinda relevant to V2.5? That's my experience anyway.

I played around with V2.5.1b a bit and tested Plan mode indoors. Even though I turned off GoTo auto center for the mount, it still does it in Plan mode. This means that you can't use Plan mode if ASIAIR can't do the Plate solve in GoTo auto center. I think that if you turn off the function under mount settings, you shouldn't use it at all. If you have the sun, moon or any of the planets in your Plan, there's a big risk that it won't work as they tend to be difficult to do Plate solve on. Is it a bug or is it meant to be that way?

I am using Neutrik XLR Connectors on my Power supplies and Batteries.
Have been out for years outside without a problem. But stay away from the cheap copies, they are no good.

The 12V cig outlets have just a tiny central contact area that can easily disconnect with movement and slightest of dirt/ corrosion.

Thanks for the suggestion. Interest piqued.
They look like a good connector. I can see a few potential issues though with the locking type and the male type socket pins being quite exposed to a short if used in that configuration on a battery box.

I made the mistake of grabbing a cheap 50amp Anderson to 2x 12v Aux socket splitter from SCA (Aust) last year and can confirm that they are already totally screwed due to corrosion and poorly crimped connections.
I shudder to think how bad it could've been if it was running actual camping items like they're advertised for.
For comparison, I've had an externally mounted Narva 12v Aux socket on my work vehicle since before 2013 and it's still working just fine. Well made Aux sockets and plugs have never given me any problems that come to mind.

Lesson learned.

As an electrical engineer, for safety all connectors supplying power should be female, ie sockets, while those on the load side at male.

Second the connectors should be designed such that you cannot accidentally reverse the polarity on the load eg by inserting a plug upside down.

A dead short across a battery is quite dangerous - it may start a fire or explode spewing boiling and corrosive chenicals.

If it hasn't come up already, I just noticed that the camera angle doesn't show up in the filenames of flats. This can be important especially if you have annoying dust on the lens.

Well… some use a manual rotator. I won’t risk using my CAA again until rotating after a meridian flip can be disabled permanently. Too risky.

I continue to have a dithering complaint, and 2.5 is the same as older versions. This may be a problem more with the harmonic mounts than with others.

Problem is, after dithering the harmonic mounts don't really "settle" much. Given their design, they continue to have the same uncorrected errors until guiding resumes. But with ASIAir, the settle timing tends instead to time out, then both guiding AND shooting begin simultaneously. Seems to me that the guiding should resume first, then the settle time begins or a second settle time kicks in, and THEN the shooting resumes. I frequently stop shooting, let the guiding settle the mount errors, then manually resume shooting. Very annoying. And I get excellent guiding on my AM3 usually shy of 0.25" on each axis according to the AA+. But the errors don't settle much with these mounts without guiding.

Hi, I am using a ASI 672 MC as a guide camera on my newton 200mm f/5. I am using ASI 533 MC Pro as main camera. I am running ASIAIR mini, app version is latest (2.5, on Android tablet). I have noticed that the button to start the guide calibration or the guide do not work properly in the guide screen. I have to try several times to toggle between the diffrent buttons (loop\calibration\guide) and stop and restart several times before it actually starts fine. I had no issues with 2.4.1 (same setup and settings). I also get no error message on the screen, simply nothing happens when I try to start guiding until -all of the sudden- calibration starts. Once it has started, then it works fine.
So, to summarize, I have experienced NO issues with the guide itself, BUT starting the Calibration & Guiding it has become very difficult and unresponsive.

Running 2.5(13.13) IOS version on my iPad. It's been a long time since I've used my ASIAir Plus 256 so maybe this is an old bug.

Using EMMC storage to save my data.
When in Preview mode and I take an test image that I want to save, I press Save, the prompt comes up to add a title and type of target and then press the button to finish, the App will display "Saved" but when I go to the Image Management section there are no files saved in the Preview folder.

I formatted the EMMC but this issue remains.

Autorun and Plan seem OK.

I haven't tried the save to an external SD card since I currently don't have one.

I've opened a Bug report a couple of days ago.

I found a good one the other night. The ASIAIR got lost in the clouds and I found it pointing at the ground as it's home position in the morning.
I'll send through logs and timelapse footage for review.

Hi everyone

Since I've updated to v2.5 and during my last two imaging nights, I've experienced strange issues.

Running my Asiair in station mode as usual through my powerful Asus router which usually can provide a very good connection range that can easily reach my neighbours backyard with ease. For some raison, the Asiair connection stop responding through my network and never let me reconnect to it in through station mode.
So I've tried to reconnect to my Asiair to get the control back of my imaging session through the Asiar direct network instead and it worked, It worked, but not for so long...

Not so long after and still running my current imaging session, Asiair started to lag while uploading captured images preview on my android phone, uploading the preview but very slowly playing between 12k to 200k sec.
Then not so long after, the whole GUI started to behave slowly while playing with the ASIAIR menus, till my opened active session get completely unusable on my phone app, still with the Asiair running and taking images.

The only way I've been able to create log to send a bug report to zwo was by finaly browsing back to the asiair opening screen, where we can long press on the big Asiair logo to create logs.

I've sent couples reports to zwo, but unfortunately they replied that they can't find what's causing the issues in my log files ( two log and reports). They ask next to send logs again next time the issue happened, plus taking a video which can demonstrate the issues.

Will try next time to start my imaging session using direct Asiair network connection instead and see if i will experience the same issues.

Anyones experiencing similar issue with v2.5 ?

BenBret-1 well yeah. I do have to occasional WiFi issues with the Asiair. But I’m not sure if the Asiair is to be blamed or not. Lost connections, slow UI, it does happen from time to time in station mode. Usually it’s the WiFi connection itself. Which channel and the position of the antenna and how cabling is close to the antenna. But I also have had an other issue at one point. A VPN connection horribly influenced my connection. I hadn’t noticed I had NordVPN running on the phone and that caused all kinds of weird issues. It took me a couple of days to notice that but once I disabled that all issues disappeared.

flappah Thanks for your inputs, but I'm defenitly not using VPN connection, and that strange behavior never happened to me before v2.5.
Probably another glitch that get introduced.
According to me, official or non official Asiair firware versions are always unstable and beta versions to me !
There's always new glitches to deal with at every new ASIAIR firware releases.

As I said on my initial post, I'll disable station mode and try a direct asiair network connection (2G and or 5G) and see if the Asiair get unstable during the imaging night.
