I've contacted the above email as requested. Though at this point I wholeheartedly support some sort of revert even if partial (just the code related to any image calibration/internal settings for that) to pre-3.0.0 corresponding firmware releases for regular S30 and S50. Weather starts to clean up and the scope is still unusable.

I thpught id try loading my fit files into siril too, just for giggles. Yeah, no, The fit files are clipped to oblivion. The same thing is true in deepskystacker. Zwo, Just roll back... Your image processing is messing everything up.

Let us roll back. It’s been since before Christmas now. You can’t expect users who paid for the scope to be beta testers and sending photos of their scope locations when it’s clearly a software/firmware error.

Roll back. Figure out the error. Then re-release. This is your path to happy users and working seestars.

Support@Seestar this is not an environment issue. It started happening after the firmware update to different users all over the world, in different conditions. Please roll back the change so we can use our Seestars again!

Does ZWO have a program to buy back my Seestar S50? It is currently unusable for the 123 posted reasons above. As a side note: every software package I have ever seen gives the user the option to DECLINE an update, with most reputable software providers, providing a list of previous updates allowing users to install older versions of the software. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Good news I hope - I've just had an email from ZWO support saying a fix is in progress, but it could be another week before it will be made available for public beta testing. This is likely to be for users who have contacted ZWO directly, so anyone in this thread who would like to help test the fix should email support@seestar.com.

I can only speak for myself, but... Well, I emailed Zwo to request access to the test build too. They got back to me with about the same response as the others - That is, their response to me last friday was that a test build will take about another week to prepare.

I am hoping for the test build to come out at least within the next 3 days, give or take a day, but that is purely personal speculation. I could be way off, But at least they are working on it.

I do find this all very strange. ZWO could simply roll back to the last version, or at least let us choose to, and let us all carry on using our scopes. Instead, they’re making everyone stop and wait while they fix their mistake. Surely while the S30 Pro is launching (got mine yesterday in the UK), they can’t possibly think it’s ok to leave people stuck with unusable scopes? This seems like a mad approach to take.

mbits I would love to be able to answer that, sadly the cloudy weather has continued tonight. The first chance I get though, I’ll be testing it out.

You can test it even inside your home. Take single frame in the darkened room and check the histogram.

shamrock Because the Chinese New Year is approaching, I'm pessimistic about whether we'll receive the new app within 10 days. If not, the new app might not be released until next month.

Lilo hi probably being stupid here. What would the best process be to complete that test? I’ve tried entering stargazing mode but because it’s not seeing anything in a dark room, it’s not happy with any of the images it’s getting and isn’t saving anything at all to look at. Plus it’s not taking any dark frames just trying to autofocus. So yeah happy to give it a go in the absence of any cloud free nights so far, just be interested how I can replicate without the option to use it properly.
