We need some time to tally up the commonly used third-party mount models based on user numbers, so that we can analyze compatibility issues in a targeted manner. To be honest, there are far too many third-party mount models, so it’s impossible for us to analyze every single one of them.

Are you fixing the issue with the target filter directional indicators? Those little arrows that show the direction of the target throughout the evening.
They still all point North which makes it pretty useless for target selection.

Moontanner Thanks for your reply. We will fix this issue in the next version. Currently only the arrow display is abnormal, which won't affect actual functions, and the filtering results you get are all correct.

[unknown] There is a large desire from many in the community for a few features that would take the ASIAIR from awesome to stellar (pun intended). We (myself a group of about 20 local hobbyists) put together a list and I was lucky enough to be selected to submit it.

Autoguider automation. Auto guiding is one of the hardest and most important features of this hobby. Learning all the settings and , much harder, learning how to successfully adjust them is a very steep learning curve. This is a process that many experienced individuals forget how hard it was to learn. A guided setup process would be great. Starting with auto deciding what values to start with (asiair already knows the mount camera focal length etc......), why not have it recommend settings based on known equipmemt. Also, simple things like where to point the scope to calibrate. There's a warning when its too close to poor areas, but why not auto select the best place in the night sky to calibrate based on your target you want to shoot. Also, similar to the EAF Autofocus process, a full blown autoguide calibration, agression, steps, and every other setting would be amazing. Even one that as its autoguiding, it makes small subtle changes to step max and aggression and other settings to optimize total error. The polar align feature of ASIAIR is great. Lets do the same for guiding.

2 west and east side of mount calibration for auto guide. In addition to the items mentioned above there is a glaring issue with m flip. As we all know you can't normally use the same calibration for auto guides on both sides of the mount. ASIAIR allows you to save and reload your cal data from previous calibrations but what if you use it on both sides of the mount. Why not create an east and west calibration and have ASIAIR automatically switch based on what side you are shooting.

3 collimation feature. There are a lot of programs out there that help you collimate but not the ASIAIR. Obviously it can't be auto as it requires screw adjusting, but why not create a feature that directs you to un focus a star and then guide you through the process based on measuring defocused stars. It could calculate actual collimation. Throw in an ZWOEAF and you could automate some of it too.

4 EAF backlash auto detect. Finding exact backlash for a lot of scopes is easy, as you can just watch for when the knob moves. But creating a process that uses an EAF to measure exact backlash based on when images focus changes when you reverse focus knob direction for SCT scopes would be great. Similar to the auto focus routine.....you simply need to tweak it a bit. Backlash determination on an SCT is painful.

5 many of use have more than one scope but use the same camera and ASIAIR to run them. Its a major pain to swap all the equipment and then make all the required changes in asiair for the swapped equipment. Create equipment profiles you can setup and save.this way you simply have to select what profile you want to use based on your equipment layout when the app starts.

"2. west and east side of mount calibration for auto guide" there is a solution - recalibrate after the meridian flip. I do this routinely; it's no big deal and yes it means waiting a minute or two. In the manual, section 5.6. Its also important to set the calibration step size appropriately for your rig (section 5.10) to minimize the time this takes.

I am sorry to say this re 3 & 4, these are incurable using an SCT. You really should switch to a scope with fixed optics with R&P focuser - either an RC, CC, or DK. Or a mak-newtonian.

"5... more than one scope..." agreed it would be nice to be able to choose a different bunch of settings for a specific scope when ENTER is pressed.

Karl S A feature I'd like to see would be to click on the power info, and be able to access a graph of voltage, current (ie power) and perhaps also cooling output over time. Many ZWO camera issues have been pinpointed as power problems and this would have great diagnostic benefits.

Previous correspondence indicates the power spike occurs when the camera is uploading images while autofocus is operating or polar alignment with repeating images at BIN1 - Especially the DUO cameras with the guide camera also running simultaneously.

It would be a very boring flat graph with a spike every few minutes while imaging.

Wouldn't that type of problem suggest inadequate power or the startup sequence? I use a Jackery 1000 V2 to power my AM5N and ASIAIR and have no problems with power at all. I have my Jackery plugged into the AM5N and the ASIAIR into the saddle of the AM5N. Below is my startup sequence:

Ensure AM5N is off!
Turn on Jackery, this ensures the ASIAIR gets power first.
Turn on AM5N
Open ASIAIR and verify primary settings are correct (for example location) then ensure everything is powered on.

In my case I am not using an EAF or CAA, my rotator is manual and I prefer to use a Bahtinov to focus. I live in a temperate climate (Northern California) so I don't have wild temp swings throughout the night so my focus stays in throughout the night.

Just a thought.

Excellent imaging run last night. Rho Ophiuchi Nebula / IC 4604 area
Success on twenty 10 minute exposures at full frame. 200 minutes of data.
No wind, seeing was excellent, temperature started at 14’C and cooled to 9.5’C.
SE Arizona, USA at 4725 feet elevation.

Astrophotography is really fun when all the parts of the kit just work !!!

Redcat 61 telescope - 300mm focal length, f/4.9 with ZWO EAF
ASI-6200MC color camera
AM5 mount - 3 years old original model
AM5 pier on a steel tripod with 2-inch diameter legs.
32GB ASIAIR with latest FW/SW, 128GB USB thumb drive on USB3 port.
200mm f/4 guide-scope with ASI-290MM guide camera

Polar alignment was completed using the ASIAir. Took about 10 minutes.
Guide calibration worked fine and guiding was 0.35 to 0.75 arc-secs all night, dithering worked every 2 frames, no issues with guiding and calibration. Guiding settled within 2-3 seconds after each dither.

Auto run worked and the ASIAir downloaded each full frame image with no issues, saving to USB thumb drive on the ASIAir. Auto focus was used at the start and then every five frames, all worked fine.
Seeing was excellent last night with 1.65 FWHM stars.

Meridian flip worked as expected and the guiding re-calibrated successfully on the other side of the pier.
The auto-run continued without any user input. I have not seen the meridian flip sequence reliably work in months but last night it was perfect. I would trust this to be unattended in the future.

It has been a long road ZWO… I have three ASIAIR plus, and one ASIAIR Pro so I have been part of the collective for several years. I can say the latest ASIAIR Firmware / Software releases are stable and worked without issues when using all ZWO equipment.

Now I will try it on my de-forked Meade 12-inch SCT at f/10 and watch the fun begin using an ioptron HAE69C mount and the ASI-533MM camera, 61mm 360mm focal length guide scope and ASI-220Mini camera. I expect some tinkering but we will see. The real test at long focal length, 3048mm f/10. Yikes !! If this works…….I will also try my ZWO OAG.

I have high hopes…..

Good luck, but I will suggest the field of view of the ASI533 on your 12" SCT will be too small for plate-solving to work.

That's a borderline Field of View. It may not work without a reducer.

I forgot to mention I use the cable network connection on the ASIAIR to an external router. Only use the wireless hot spot for polar alignment when I am at the telescope. Had two drop connections last night but ASIAIR reconnected within 5 seconds each time.

OK. It's a terrible looking glitch in the UI that has a pretty big impact on the usability of the target search function.
The arrows combined with the altitude graph allow me to forgo using third party apps to avoid localised light pollution domes and trees.
