I have an ASI2600MC-Pro that was purchased in 2020, and an ASI2600MC-Duo that was purchased in 2025. I just downloaded SharpCap Pro and ran the sensor analysis on both cameras multiple times. The Read Noise results were fairly consistent in each run for each camera, but were significantly worse for the (older) ASI2600MC-Pro. So I'm wondering of this is a result of aging electronics (although a quick Google search about this for the ASI2600MC-Pro concluded it should not be). Does anyone have any experience with this who can comment?
I have always used a Gain of 100, so the difference in Read Noise is 2.37 (ASI2600MC-Pro) vs 1.46 (ASI2600MC-Duo), a 62% increase. But if I were to use a Gain of 0 on a high dynamic range target, the Read Noise would be nearly double. Is this something that should concern me enough that I need to consider replacing the ASI2600MC-Pro? Or is light pollution in Bortle 4/5 skies going to swamp the read noise?
