Gatsu87 Pardon me if this is obvious, but did you update your Dark Library under Guiding Advanced Settings? I always do it after cooling the camera, too.

Re: Building the guide camera Dark Library - I wonder how much the guide camera in the ASI2600MC/MM Duo is cooled along with the main camera and how that might affect people who have a separate guide scope or OAG who are at the mercy of the elements. How much does ambient temperature affect the Dark Library for the guide camera?

I've tried all sorts with the Duo guide camera and it makes very little difference. Sometimes the guiding even seems to work better without dark subtraction turned on.

They really need the option for multiple sets of darks and gain settings for different filters.

I've jumped into the fray again with the latest Beta version, so I'll devote some time to documenting my guiding issues with the Duo chip. I just don't have the same camera on the OAG to do an apples for apples type comparison. Not that it should really matter that much.
Hopefully a little push might help ZWO figure out what the issue is.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the remote function, as I don't trust the rig to be further away than my yard. Even then I've got an all sky cam and a tilt/pan security camera to keep an eye on things.
The rest of the latest Beta looks much the same as the last one.

It seemed to be a one-time thing. Now if I press 'Detect' it calculates the star sizes correctly. Puzzling.

R0k9pZfT Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, and yes, you're probably right that it was around version 2.4.0.

Do you happen to remember approximately when version 2.4.0 was released? If I'm not mistaken, I also remember that in one of the updates around that time, ZWO mentioned that they had changed or modified something related to guiding.

I don't know exactly, but that's about when I started saving the releases. I have 2.4.0 archived from June 20, 2025. I think 2.4.0 was the "great fiasco" that had countless numbers of us very upset because it was sooo broken and ZWO seemed to have not tested it at all.

I think I'm going to go back to 2.3.3 to see if that's when the guide screen for my 2600MC-duo was clearer and worked better.

That would be awesome if you could roll back and track down a change related to an update. My Duo is a fairly recent addition and I've only ever known it to have very average abilities. Not what I'd expected based on the specs.

The two images above are the best screenshots I could find that illustrate the difference I get between the the 290 in an OAG and the 220 Duo chip. Obviously not an apples for apples comparison.
Same scope. Same time of year when it's nothing but stars above.
Unfortunately, only really good as a subjective comparison.

chris.hooley@mac.com Hi, the function of remotely downloading images is also in the planning stage. It is expected that this feature will be added in the next version. The next version will be released this year.

I hope that Team ZWO will:

add the "group by slot" option in PLAN mode;
improve the way the "interval" parameter works in autorun and plan mode: the pause must occur after the filter has been changed and the EAF has adjusted its position (especially if one used the offset in the EFW); this is important, otherwise the vibrations transmitted by the EAF will compromise the guidance while the next shot is already being taken.

I simply think it's a software issue with the Air, as soon as I switched from using the Air to NINA and PHD2 my guiding/star/screen/contrast issues all disappeared when using my 2600mm Duo (and the 2600mm Air I had before it). I don't know what ZWO have done, it seems like my 2600mm Air did not have those issues when I first got it in December last year. At some point there was a change and guiding with the 220mm in the Air/Duo became much worse, especially in terms of selecting appropriate guide stars (saturation and number) regardless of gain/exposure length. All I know is that using PHD2 I have absolutely zero issues getting numerous appropriately saturated/SNR stars whether using Luminance filter or 6nm narrowband filters. My guiding is also a lot more stable and less prone to sudden changes like I was experiencing with the Air (like star loss, star number reduction, etc).

I rolled back to 2.3.3 as a test. My 2600MC-Duo guide screen at 350 gain on 2.3.3 is visually roughly the same as 3.0 on 400 gain. I'm using 0.5s guide exposures with an Askar D1 Colour Magic filter. For what it's worth, corrections are ₀.22 RA and 0.14 Dec on a decent evening on my AM3.

Tested and it works OK, but the icons on the bottom of the screen are hidden. I just recieved a corrupt Firmware update, and the app stopped plate-solving. Swapping to old app causes connection failure.
I think you have a problem. Reverting back to the old app until this is a stable update.

Today, out of the blue, the Autofocus routine is failing to converge to focus. The first round it does correctly the V-shape, but the second run it starts from perfect focus and goes away from it.

I will check tomorrow morning the belt tension just in case it lost some tension (I touched it and seems pretty tight, but who knows).

I haven't actually touched this rig in 2 weeks and all these days (13 consecutive nights of running it) I have had zero issues with the autofocus, so I am not sure where this is coming from today.

I have been keeping the beta updated, right now with 3.0_0717 (14.37). Has anything changed in the last update for the beta that could affect the autofocus?

elakrab After tightening the belt and increasing the step size a bit, it seems that the problem is gone and the Autofocus routing works perfectly tonight.
