vertical lines

Hello,

I am new here. I just purchased an ASI174MM-Cool and am creating my first set of dark calibration images. I noticed that in addition to the horizontal banding which I somewhat expected, there are two distinct vertical lines of bright pixels in every other row in the dark stacks, at X values of about 575 (levels 280-320) and 983 (150+-, which would be difficult to see except for being in a distinct vertical line).

Is this normal? It surprised me a little to see these.

Maybe slightly non-uniform column? Not something common but can show up.

did you use max gain?

there is such problem with some sensor if use very high gain

I've seen those on other CMOS sensors and they cause no problems in the subs once you've done a proper calibration. In fact, it is probably rare to get any sensor (CMOS or CCD) that doesn't have some type of column defect when the camera is pushed hard. Of course, YMMV, but I don't think there is anything to be worried about.

Yes it was set on max gain. I haven't been able to do any more trials due to weather, etc. Would you recommend lower gain setting for general use? I assume that would help with row noise also. I had the cooler on and set at -20C.
