Mac astronomers

Are there any good capture programs for Mac users that can track objects for capture? I see PhD will guide but if I use that do I need a separate camera and guide scope? Fire capture seems to do this good from what I have seen but is not available for users with Mac computers. Has anyone had success with Mac computers and capture software? I want to be able to track the object and keep it in frame for capture. Thanks for your help! New guy here

I am also a Mac guy. I finally decided to buy a cheap PC for Astronomy for a couple of reasons. #1 - Many more Astro-programs available for PC. #2 - I would rather take my $400 PC out in the cold and dew rather than my $1200 Macbook.

I had never owned a PC. It took some getting used to. I manage to capture with the PC then I come home and process on my Mac.

Just a thought.

P.S. For Deep Sky imaging, I use a program called Nebulosity. There is a version for both PC & Mac and one license allows you to load it on both computers.

Thank you for that. I am having trouble with nebulousity and think that I will probably just get a pc. Oa capture has been working great. I did some trial captures and now need to find a program to stack on the Mac. Pc will be coming in a could of months.

Hi,

I have just bought an ASI 120 MC-S camera and downloaded oaCapture 0.8.0 for mac.

I managed to have it work pretty well on different systems (10.7.5 and 10.10.5) but the debayering does not work at all.

I then noticed that there is also a source folder called "oaCapture-0.8.0 sources (bzip2)" that can be downloaded.

Can anybody please tell me where I should put this folder and what is it suposed to do.

Will it help with the debayering?
