Interestingly, I don't think I've ever had a problem with mismatched bias files, at least not on the cooled ASI178MM. However, the dark fields are another matter (hard to get matched darks, even at the same gain, exposure, and set point temperature).

My above camera is by QHY but the chip is the same as ASI120MM. All the talks about the darks are different from different sessions make me nervous. I am planning a trip to a remote dark site, if I have to do live dark frames along with the respective lights, I will have to go there for several sessions, a near impossible task.

You should be able to shot every filter with the same settings for DS images. No need to change anything.

But if I have to take darks during the same session, it will waste a lot of time that can be used to do the imaging.

You will need bias frames only.

You shoot dark frames and bias frames at the same time. Then remove bias from the dark to get a clean dark. Then during imaging session you shoot current bias frames and you apply old cleaned dark and current bias to your light frames.

OK. I have never done "clean darks" before, only with lights together. Do I just feed DSS darks and biases without lights, then register them to make master clean darks?

Didn't used DSS, but to get a clean dark you tell DSS that your raw dark frames are light frames and that you want to stack that with a bias frame. That should give a clean dark. I use Nebulosity where things are explicit.

It's specific to miniCAM5 only ;)

That's why simple lenses are very good pick for small cameras ;) Then even big nebulae fit.
