ASI178MM Ha only

Hi, I'm interested in using the 178MM as a wide field Ha camera using 50-135mm Canon EOS lenses. How's the Ha response of this camera? Is it worth getting the COOL version? Thanks! Rick

Hi,

I have been using the ASI178MM-cooled for narrowband imaging for over a month now. I find it works extremely well with my Astronomik 12nm H-alpha filter, as well as the OIII and SII filters. So sensitivity to H-alpha will not be a problem. It works particularly great with a fast lens. I am using the Samyang 135mm F2.0 EOS mount lens wide open, with the Geoptik EOS-T2 adapter to mount to the ASI178MM-cooled set at -25 degrees C. With the right gain and exposure, it can be capable of impressive results when guided.
