ASI120MC Will not run on Two Different Windows 8.1 Tablets

I was able to install and operate the camera successfully on my Win8.1 Dell Laptop. I performed the same installation on both my Dell Windows 8 tablet ( Intel Atom CPU Z3735G) and my Winbook TW700. I had no errors on either install. I am unable to see any preview image on either machine. The Winbook gives no errors and the Dell machine gives an ERROR during capture, error code = 80040209. I am thnking the problem is basic incompatibility with these machines or with their USB hardware.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have flashed the camera firmware to the 'compatible' version with no change in behavior. If these machines are dead ends, I would like to request suggestions as to compact Windows Machine options that folks have used. I really don't want to travel with a full sized laptop. I used Teclast X80h some time ago and it did handle ASI120MM and Atik 314L+ via USB Hub. Tablets are very tricky to use:

- they have to have proper USB OTG (and not just for mass storage devices)

- the USB OTG must provide correct power (or you would have to use powered USB Hub)

- storage must be able to handle the data rate (no additional components connected to that USB controller inside tablet)

Way easier would be to use one of those small ultralight laptops. Depends how portable you want to go.

The camera does appear in the device manager on both tablets.

I was able to get my Dell tablet up and running with the camera, flashed back to it's factory firmware. I have had zero luck getting a powered USB hub to work, so I can only run as long as the battery holds out as the same USB port is used to power the tablet as is used for cameras or external storage.

It is clear the performance of the tablet limits its data capture rate, but I was able to capture Jupiter and Lunar AVI's last night.

Some additional notes:

1. The Dell tablet running Win 8.1 seems slightly incompatible with Autostakkert. I can load AVI's or BMP's, and analyze them, but the alignment wind disappears and cannot be STACK button remains greyed out no matter what I do. I will generally post process on a more robust machine, so we will see.

2. The Winbook will not see the camera in any software, firecapture, etc. its too bad since that tablet has a dedicated USB port plus a power/USB swing port. There may be a USB hub inside the thing that is messing things up.

3. While I have a working solution with the Dell tablet, I really need to pursue an ultraportable laptop with a proven track record with these cameras.

Teclast also has one USB and it has that no-charge problem.

You can look at for example Clevo laptops. 90% of them is gaming, but they have few ultrabooks at 13,3" or 14" and at around 1,5kg. The advantage of those laptops is that you pick components when you buy one - so you can pick efficient storage options, RAM and so on :)
