Driver errors with ASI120mc and Win10

Got my new ASI120mc today and keep getting driver errors. The device manager shows the ZWO but displays driver error. In Sharpcap and AMCap I can select my camera, but get "error during preview" and error code ox80040209.

Can someone help me please? I am using Windows 10 and loaded the drivers first from the disc and then updated from the website.

Well, knowing the definition of insanity and after loading, deleting, loading, etc., etc., drivers, I give up and am using the new camera on my Windows 8 laptop instead. I've decided that Windows 10 is not quite ready for primetime, just yet. Shame though, I like it better than Windows 8, but unfortunately, even when suppliers say their drivers are compatible, sometimes they are not.

Windows 8 loaded on the first try with no problems at all.

I used ASI120M and ASI178MM on Windows 10 and it did work.

Thanks for the reply. My camera worked immediately with Win 8. Perhaps there is some sort of conflict with other devices. I think I will wait for a while before upgrading this laptop until I understand what is going on with the other. I do like the camera quite a bit.

Do you all got a solution for the driver problem in conjunction with Win 10?

As you can see in my Post under Camera/Problems with ASI120MM and Windows 10

I also have capture problems already in the preview windows in FireCapture and SharpCap...

Let me please know, whether the problem has been solved...

I also think that there is a driver problem under Win 10 Home (Win 7 Home works very well).

I also tried the new Firmware Upgrade for the ASI120MM, but no effect.

It would be very pity, if I cannot solve this problem, because I like this camera very much and I wanted to buy a new USB3.0 camera, but now, I am afraid, that I get the same problems.

One hint, I want to try, is to stop/pause my Antivirus scanner (McAffee). Additionally, I try to find out, wether an App of Win 10 overload my system; but the last one is very improbable, because I use a notebook with a Core i7 which isn't slow.

More of my tests in the evening...

I believe (guessing) my problem was related to the USB drivers in my laptop. I switched laptops and have no issues with Win10 now. Also, the original laptop uses a AMD processor and the new one is an Intel. I did not go further once I got it working easily with Win10 on the new laptop.

I have the same problem with asi120mm. I bought my new laptop with A8-7050 cpu and windows 10 and have error (code 10) in device manager. I even install windows 7 in this laptop and i have the same problem. But in my Desktop PC the camera works great!

Check for this possible problem and solution:

Recent laptops like my ACER Aspire have a USB3.0 port(s) and USB2.0 port(s).

If I plug my ASI120MC into the USB3.0 ports, the laptop will not recognize the camera.

If I plug the USB cable in to one of the USB2.0 ports, it works just fine.

Though USB3.0 is supposed to be a superset of 2.0, it seems that, at least for this camera driver, it causes a malfunction. So at least on this Win10 machine, I must use the USB2.0 port to get the ASI120MC camera to work.

Yes, you are right. Because our cameras have high requirements for USB performance, sometimes these manufacturers can't find the right device to test their Host. Professional testing may only be done when actual users give feedback.

I do comprehend your disappointment. I used to have some Microsoft-badged pack that didn't work when connected to my USB3 ports either. To be reasonable for ZWO it is presumably exceptionally troublesome for them to test bunches of various blends of equipment, yet in actuality, they aren't building the USB stuff themselves. They purchase in the chipset including all the stuff that holds the firmware from an outsider that moves it explicitly as a chipset for building USB3 gadgets around. One would trust it was Contact Bigpond Customer Service conceivable to depend on such a provider to have sensibly archived any similarity issues.
