Strange ASI174mm problem with USB3.0

I have a question which I can't seem to get a grip on.

I have an ASI174mm at my home now and I encounter a strange problem. When I connect it to my macbook with USB3.0 and try to image with oacapture it hangs all the time after a short period and when I can image (for a short time) the speed drops down to about 20fps, although I have a SSD disk.

But when I use a USB2.0 hub on the same port and connect the ASI174 to that it works perfectly stable, but only with 35fps max. Now I bought a usb3.0 hub to try and with that it hangs again. On my windows machine (which only has usb2.0) it's the same. When connected directly it is not recognized a lot of times, but when I use the hub it works perfectly stable in usb2.0 mode.

Did anybody ever hear of such a problem and do you maybe have an idea where I should be looking to solve this? Thanks!

I had a similar problem, I don't know whether it's related.

The first time I used oaCapture on my Mac (el capitan) with my ASI174MM everything went ok, since I did not change camera settings, just gain & gamma. The second time, though, I started playing with the parameters to get a faster image rate, and after some changes, the software started freezing and making everything very very slow (unusable!). I disconnected the camera from oaCapture, and the speed went back to normal, but selecting it again caused the program to freeze again...

This behaviour went on every time I connected the camera and activated it in oaCapture. I tried changing every setting (at slow motion), restarting, smc reset, etc. but nothing changed.

I tried the camera in another machine (firecapture on windows), and it worked fine.

In my case, the solution that worked was to delete the preferences files for oaCapture. They are in the Library/Preferences folder of your user folder (search for oacapture in that folder, they have a .plist extension). After deleting those files and firing oaCapture, the camera worked again in my Mac.

If it is not your case, I hope someone finds this experience useful.

Anyway, does anyone know which settings (in the camera tab I guess) could be guilty of this malfunctioning?
