USB Cable

I've searched the forums for info about longer USB cables, and would like to know, is better to buy a new USB 2.0 A/B cable (less than 5m), or buy an Active USB 2.0 extension Cable to extend the provided cable?

I am using a 5M extension.

I did also try and an active extender (5m) and it did work.
