Hey guys
So here's the deal. I am thinking of getting a dedicated planetary camera, and given my budget (£300ish give or take a little) i've more or less whittled it down to the ASI 224MC. It will be used mostly for Jupiter, plus eventually some Mars, Saturn, and maybe even some Lunar. At the moment all i have is an unmodded Canon 60D, which is serving as my camera for DSO and planetary.
The plan is to add an IR Pass filter to shoot Luminence, then replace it with an UV/IR Cut filter to shoot the colour (although for Lunar i'll just do the IR Pass and use it as Mono).
The problem though, is that my Netbook which i use for DSO work is really ancient. It does have amazing battery life (which is why i picked it up 2nd hand) and for DSO it just works, so i'm happy enough with it. Here's a link to the specs, but essentially it has 3 USB 2.0 ports, 2GB of Ram (i upgraded it from 1GB), a 250GB 5400rpm HDD, and a single core Atom N450 processor:

I have now realised that serious planetary imaging requires a USB 3.0 port, an SSD is preferable too, and maybe even a fairly fast processor, however, for the small amount of time i get to image these days i simply cannot justify buying a new laptop just for this, so i'm stuck with what i've got!
So basically, i'm just wondering what sort of FPS i can expect to achieve with such an old spec machine (i'm especially worried about the processor). I don't want to waste my money if i'm not likely to achieve much with it. As i understand it, there is the option to use a lower ROI to achieve higher FPS, for Jupiter all i would need would be 640x480 (comfortably), so if i could easily get something noticeably higher than 60fps (which is what the Canon can already do on it's own) then i would definitely consider it. I'd like to hit around the 100 mark if possible, but i've no idea if that's extremely likely or a pipe-dream!
Oh, i should also say, i will be using a C8 on an HEQ5 Pro for all my imaging.
Any info much appreciated guys. Of course, if anyone else out there is using a similar spec machine i'd love to hear feedback on your experiences.
Cheers fellas.
