Noise on a new 224

Hi, I have been using a 120mm-s for almost two years and never had an issue. I recently bought a 224 but there is terrible noise when using it never matter what settings I change and I am getting really frustrated. I have tried turning high speed on/off along with all the debayering and preview options. This happens in both FireCapture and Sharpcap (funny enough the only time it does not do it is if I use 'Mono' as the capture option in SC. The symptom is that it looks like you can see the individual pixels. These 'dots' are found in the final capture and of course get worse when applying wavelets? This happens on two different scopes.

Thanks, as I stated in my original post I have tried various debayering options both in the capture software and post capture processing. If there is no way to trouble shoot this I will have to return the camera as I can not have hundreds of dollars sitting on a shelf. Is there some support I can send a log file or capture information to?

Have you tried the debayor application that is in the firecap folder?

Hi,

try the latest SharpCap (2.9 beta).

Make sure you select the camera from the ZWO ASI Cameras at the top of the cameras menu. Once the camera is open, put it into 'RAW8' colour space, then try out the various values under the 'Debayer Preview' option. On should work - it should select the right bayer pattern automatically and give you a colour picture without the grid. If that is incorrect try each of the 'Force XXXX' options - one of them will be correct.

Note that captures taken in RAW mode will look monochrome and have the grid effect - you just need to tell your processing software to debayer when processing (there are options for this in registax, AS, Pipp, etc)

Uninstall the old driver if it is still on the system? Reinstall the new driver....
