ASI120MC frame rate dropping

I've just bought an ASI120MC and have been testing it out at home. I have this odd problem whereby the frame rate starts off OK (around 20 fps at full resolution - to be expected with exposure around 50ms) then after about 200 frames it starts dropping dramatically to around 5-10fps or even lower. It's fine in preview mode - constant at 20fps. If you reduce the resoltion to 640x480 then it gets to about 500-600 frames before the drop happens.

it suggests to me that it is some sort of buffering issues where the frame rate drops after the buffer fills up. Any ideas for settings I could tweak?

I am connecting directly to the laptop (a Lenovo Ideapad 100s - quite a cheap and low spec machine I do realise) - no hubs involved - and controlling/capturing through SharpCap. Drivers and SHarpCap are all the latest versions.

That device is fairly low spec.

Not just the storage device but also the processor.

You need write speeds of at least 33MB/s consistently. I would think the eMMC drive would be on the fringes of that.

Test this by copying a large file and see what the speed is as reported by Windows.

The laptop does not have a USB 3 port, but it does have an SD card slot. You could try using a very fast SD card as the storage device.

I'll have a go with a fast micro SD card and see how I get on. A bit cheaper than replacing the laptop as a first step!

Hi, what windows version is it? I realise you have said drivers are latest version but you need to look at system drivers like USB and SATA.

Usually the latest intel inf driver will help a lot - if it's an intel based system.

Try the manufacturer website for new system drivers also.
