very low frame rate ASI174MM

I've got a 2 year old laptop with the following specs:

Core i7 2.4ghz

16gb Ram

1tb HDD

USB 2.0 No USB 3 ports.

My framerate is between 9 and 15 fps. I'm assuming this is due to USB 2 instead of 3 being available.

Is there anything I can do to up my frame rate on this laptop, or must I get a laptop with USB 3 to use this camera with a decent framerate.

Would a regular HDD be okay or an external SSD (also usb 3) be better?

Any advise is appreciated.

that's maximun usb2.0 speed

so you need a new PC with USB3.0 port and SSD hard driver

Thanks Sam, would an external (USB 3 SSD give enough performance as an Internal SSD?)

If the HDD is good it could suffice. Applications like FireCapture may also use RAM to store incoming data if HDD isn't fast enough. At some point SSD may however be required. If you would upgrade to a new laptop - use SSDs.

external SSD is not as good as internal one

What's more important in capturing with the 174, Chip speed, HDD/SSD speed, or Memory?

What's a low cost (around $300 USD) laptop that is recommended for using the camera?

Also when used for guiding, is framerate as important?

guiding don't need very high performance, any intel computer should be ok

SSD is the most important part for speed
