Ascom driver problems

I'm having some problems using an ASI 120MM camera with the ASCOM driver and Prism Astro software (my purpose is to make an allsky camera). I've seen in a previous post that one of these problems have been addressed (http://zwoug.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2261). I found the same workaround (take two successive exposures) and the driver you provided in this post fixed the issue. However, it seems that with the latest drivers, the problem happens again.

Another problem I have is that the image is sometimes split in two parts. Part of the image on one side is moved to the other side of the image. You can see one image here :

I'm using the ASCOM driver version 1.0.1.21 and Windows 7 64 bits, ASCOM platform 6 SP3.

Thanks. I installed this driver. I'll check it during the night to see if the image is still folded. I'll let you know the result tomorrow.

What I can tell now is that I still need to do a double exposure to get the good exposure time I requested.

Hi. No change regarding the previous driver I was using. I still have to take double exposures and the images are still split/folded sometimes. Any idea ?

Hi Jean

the split problem usually depends on USB host side

USB hub, extender USB Cable all will cause this problem

Thanks for the information. I didn't suspect that. Do you know any solution to prevent this problem, apart from putting a short cable ? As the allsky camera will be put on a mast, we can barely use a short cable.

a short cable is the best way, maybe you can change to another USB port

and our USB3.0 cameras are more user friendly in this aspect

I come back on this topic with another question. In our case, it is not possible to use a short USB cable. Do you think it would work if we use an USB to Ethernet converter ?

You did not mention the distance you need for your USB cable. There are active, passive, and even fiber optic USB extenders. Fiber optic extenders are somewhat expensive but can extend USB for over a km.
