ASI1600MM-Cool Test Dark Frame and Slow Frame Rates

I just received an ASI1600MM-Cool and did some tests. See attached test dark: 30 images/exposure 300 sec/temp -20C/captured in SGP/stacked in Pixinsight and STF applied. Does this look right?

Also, the camera has a max frame rate of 4 fps at full resolution MONO16 (USB traffic at 95 and exposure is less than 1ms) in SharpCap 2.9. The camera doesn't even work with the ZWO supplied software! Is there something wrong with the drivers on Windows 10? All my other ASI cameras are working fine.

the dark frame looks ok, the amp-glow looks more obvious if you bin 4 like this

about your second question

4fps is the max speed under USB2.0 port

this is because of bandwidth limitation of USB2.0

you need USB3.0 port to reach higher fps

and if there is no image show up, try turn down "USB Traffic"

95% maybe a little higher

Hello Sam.

I have the camera connected direct to USB3 port on laptop. I did lower the USB Traffic to about 85 and that provides a framerate of 11 FPS with 16 bit set in FireCapture. However, turning 16 bit off only yields framerate of about 14 FPS. I was hoping to use the camera for solar imaging and would like to get the max bit depth and framerate possible. Although 14 FPS might be fine, 4 FPS certainly is not. I can get that with my 36mp DSLR! Hopefully the driver will be refined to provide better performance in the future. Otherwise this looks like a great camera for deep sky imaging!

you need to select "high speed" to get max 23fps

"high speed"mode use 10bit ADC

you can also use ROI to speed up the fps
