Cannot get any software to work

I have a pretty new Macbook Pro purchased easter this year running max 0SX 10.11.15

I also have parallels running windows 10.

I just got an AsI120MC-S

But I cannot get any software to work with it at all.

The closest I have got to working is OACapture but the problem is there is a huge lag between for the preview image, making it impossible to focus. Would very much know if these is a fix to this.

I am new to planetary imaging with a web cam btw.

I also tried fire capture running on my virtual windows but when i try and start it up it says .bat file is missing and refuses to work. The author of the software said i have to start it from the desktop but parallels doesn't seem have a desk top, or if it does I don't know how to open it.

I also tries Sharpcap and that wont find the camera. Yes I have installed the drivers.

This all adds to the new camera being totally useless. Any help much appreciated.

for windows problem, you should check "device manager" at first if the camera is listed there

then SC2.8 can see it

for FC, you need to run Firecapture_ASI

the camera should be ok if you can preview at oacapture

small resolution is faster

I've had the same problems. Seems to be a driver problem in Windows and no joy at all on the Mac side.

After loading the drivers, Firecapture will work if you use the FirecatureAVI shortcut The installer puts the Firecapture files under Documents and must be started from there. It took a few repeats to start the camera in the program. Good luck!

Actually, I have the same problem. I can not seem to get my new 224mc to be recognized by PHD2, Nebulosity or Firecapture on Windows 10. I guess the problem is something to do with being on a Macintosh running Parallels 11. Any ideas? I have installed the latest drivers for the 224mc. The camera seems to work fine on the Machintosh side PHD2 and Nebulosity - usually. Windows 'Device Manager' does not seem to see the camera consistently. It has worked a few times which is very confusing.

I have been messing with the issue for weeks now and want to get on with things.

Any ides would be very welcome! Thanks for the great forum.

Ok, today, after more hours of fiddling I finally got Windows 10 'Device Manager' to see the ZWO 224mc and it worked perfectly with PHD2, FireCapture and Nebulosity on Windows. I then tried the Mac version of PHD2 and Nebulosity and it connected fine over on the Macintosh.

BUT WAIT... switching back to Windows it once again does not see the camera in "device Manager"! And can't find the camera once again...

It's probably something with Parallels and Windows but I can't seem to consistently connect.

The camera is use by one or the other OS. So if you connect to it in OS X, it's not available in Windows, even if no software uses it on OS X.

I do the same with VMWare and when I connect the camera I have to chose which OS will see it , OS X or Windows. If I chose Windows, even after quiting VMWare I have to unplug and replug the camera for it to be usable in OS X application. This is probably the same with Parallel. There is probably a dialog box or menu entry to configure the USB devices behavior when then get plugged in.

When I plug in the camera only sometimes do I get a dialog choice of which OS to use. And even if I choose say Windows the camera isn't necessarily functioning or recognized by Windows...

But I will try to be even more intentional with your specific instructions and see if I can discover the exact procedure. I don't think I'll be switching the camera between OS's once I actually get to guiding or imaging but I need to narrow this down in case I do.
